Jeans Brand
Not everyone can style just about every pair of jeans. As a matter of fact, I don't know anyone who can just put on any pair and rock them? We, and I do mean us ladies have that particular brand of jeans we like. They fit us how we want. They are snug, loose, boot cut, straight leg, etc...whichever your pleasure.
I still haven't bought into the secretly slender jeans. Really? They just push every thing up and then you have another problem-muffin top. So, why did I choose to tell you about jeans today? Because I was excited to find my brand! I've tried the Levy's and the others...but was not too happy.
The jeans brand Ana are cute, stylish, boot cut, and ever so comfortable! I found them at JCP. Loving my jeans brand. What jeans brand do you swear by?

Mums the Word
So, I admit I'm not the best at keeping up with month long blog challenges. However, I won't stop trying! Especially since this title really hit my heart-31 Letters to My Children. When I find time, perhaps I will complete it....
A friend of my sister's placed a question on FB asking if anyone sells Homecoming mums. She needed two for her middle school daughters and she couldn't afford pricey ones. Who can? I think the charge of mums now a day are ridiculously high! I love doing mums and since my little girl is too old for mums and my son is not that into the Homecoming scene and decor...I offered my help-for free! She just purchased the supplies.
The school colors are orange and white. I threw in gold to make it look really nice.
Just getting started...ribbon, gold, and hot glue! By the way, you can't do a craft session without a little hot glue burn! Ouch! No pictures please!
When you go to Michael's or Hobby Lobby this late in the year for mum related items, you will have to get real creative to make the mum. I found these pretty orange and white ribbon to use from the fabric section. Mum ribbon in orange and white was completely sold out!
I found these linked stars. I had not seen anything like it and they looked adorable.
I attached the back to "hide" the work behind the mum.
Final product of Phanessa's Homecoming mum. She is the more "girly" girl so I made it more girly for her.
The final product for Rae. Rae is less girly, so I made hers with less frills, but still sweet.
Here is Phanessa's bottom part of the mum.

TEACHERS I heart!
I visited such an awesome classroom today! I am so proud this teacher is teaching our sweet babies! She started out as a student teacher and has since moved into her very own class. Her classroom is full of decorations of the little furry monsters. There is Pinterest written everywhere in this room! Her instruction is so on task and with it. She challenges her students and makes them think. She teaches them self responsibility and self motivation. She is enthusiastic and energetic. It was already 1:30 p.m. and class was still entertaining and fun. Some difficult students are in this class and you can't even tell. She makes me want to teach again!

I am so grateful to have some wonderful teachers such as her educating our future leaders!
So so proud of my teacher!!

Day 8 31 Days ... On A Mom Moment
Dear son,
This week is Homecoming week. I wanted to give you all the things I gave to your sister during her homecoming weeks...a Mum like garter for you to wear and a gift for your Homecoming date. Yes, I know I am being such a mom and you are not into that, but I wanted you to have it just in case you thought you may want it later. I asked you several times whether you wanted a garter to wear and whether you wanted a gift for your homecoming date. You continued to decline until the day before. You reluctantly agreed to allow me to make you these things because I wouldn't stop asking. So, there I go the mother I am and searched high and low at Michael's (because Hobby Lobby was already closed) in search for red and white decorations to make you a garter and her a homecoming bear. I'm sorry I'm such a pushy mom. I just want you to have everything you need. I love you son. And even though you didn't wear the garter, it was a joy to make it for you.
Love,
Mom

Day 7 31 Days... On spirituality
Dear kids,
Keep a close relationship with God. Thank him everyday for your blessings. Thank him for your health, for your family, for your friends. Thank him for blessing the life he has given you. Then pray for continued blessings, for those needing prayer, to keep him close to you. Never underestimate the power of prayer. Know that when you are feeling most alone, you are not.
For you... A poem titled Footprints.... Always keep this close to your heart...
One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.
This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from
anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.
So I said to the Lord,
"You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during
the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one
set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most,
you have not been there for me?"
The Lord replied,
"The times when you have
seen only one set of footprints,
is when I carried you."
Love,
Mom

Day 6 31 Days...On siblings
Dear son and daughter,
There will be times that you will fuss and fight. There will be times when you will keep each other's secrets. There will be times when you feel like you two are fighting against the world and you will defend each other to the end. Through any time in your lives, remember that God gave you each other. You are each your brother's/sister's only sibling. You will be the only aunt and uncle to each other's children-of course with the exception of each of your future spouses. You two are very unique and share a bond like no other. Always show your love for one another. Give respect to each other. One day you will both be grown and have your own families and you will be sharing an evening together laughing about all the crazy times when you were younger. You will be wishing to have this time back. Cherish it. Cherish each other.
Love,
Mom

Day 5 31 Days...On talent
Dear son,
I just finished watching your band rehearsal. You all have a Marching Festival tomorrow. I am so proud of you! You always give your all in everything you do. I never would have thought you'd be in the band when you got to high school, but it fits you well. You have such a talent with music-particularly with Percussion. I can't wait to see you develop as a musician in high school.

Mom

Day 3 31 Days....On nicknames
Dearest Half pint,
I use to call you half pint because you were this tiny little thing that followed me everywhere. I would sometimes look at you and jokingly ask you "where did you come from?" You would give me that puzzle little look and then I'd say come on little half pint. You were so adorable. In my eyes you were smaller than a pint! Hence, half pint. :) Ever since, I always had a nickname for children around me.

31 Days Day 2: Letter to My Son on the Day He was Born
To my son,
I had been waiting for you for a long time. We had been wanting a son for a long while. Daddy was an only boy in his family and was so wanting a son of his own. I was so excited when the doctor told us you were a boy. I went crazy with everything blue and anything having to do with boyish things.
June 24th I went for my regular doctor appointment. I had a great pregnancy with no problems, thankful to God. My doctor appointment that day, things changed. It appeared you were ready to come into the world. The doctor said my water bag was leaking and that she wanted to induce labor. I couldn't carry you safely any longer. She gave me enough time to head home and get my things together. I was to return back to the hospital at 7 p.m.
I went home and showered and got our things together. Then I started to get nervous. Your sister was almost 7 years old by this time, so I was quite nervous about your arrival being that I had not delivered a baby in over 6 years. I did catch up on all the reading of what to expect, but still a little nervous nonetheless.
Daddy and I arrived at the hospital and checked into our room. I received medication to help my labor get going. The nurse said it would be a while. The night was peaceful. I slept some during the night, but not too much. I was too excited. Around 7 am the next morning, your grandparents all started showing up. Just when daddy and your grandpa were about to sit and have a breakfast taco, the nurse said its time! Let's clear out. Then I was really shaking with nerves!
You arrived at 8 am that morning. When I saw you, I fell in love. You were so adorable! You looked just like your sister. We were so ecstatic to finally have you here. We became a family of four. You were my pride, a joy to my life, you were my son.

31 Days Letters to My Children
I stumbled across this 31 Days Link up @ The Nesting Place. When I find Link ups that I like, I join in. This one is where we choose a topic and blog about it for 31 days. There are over 1,000 of us! I thought it was a great one to join if over 1,000 decided to do it. So, I am a 31 Dayer for the month of October. Maybe I can do this or maybe not? But, I can try.
My topic is 31 Days Letters to My Children.... Here we go!
To my daughter on the day she was born,
The day you were born my life changed forever. I just turned 17 a week before. In the early morning of July 25th, I stayed up all night. My tummy was hurting bad. I read a lot when I was pregnant with you, so I knew enough to monitor the pains. Yet, naive to not realize how serious the pains were being that they were actual contractions! Your grandpa came into my room before leaving to work around 5 am and I was just sitting there with some magazines and a notebook nearby writing down every time I felt a pain. The time had gone down to about 15 minutes apart. Your grandpa discreetly went and woke up your grandma to tell her you were on the way.
As I laid in the bed at the hospital awaiting your arrival, the pain got worse needless to say. Your daddy stayed by my side the whole time. I remember watching The Young and the Restless and being in labor at the same time. All the family started filling up the waiting room and hall. Everyone was so excited to meet you! At that time, we didn't know whether you were a boy or girl. I wanted to be surprised, so I never found out.
You were born at 2:15 that afternoon. You were such a precious baby. Everyone oooed and ahhh'd over you! You've been spoiled ever since.
You came early in my life and to this day I would never change a thing. You have been a blessing in my life since I found out about you. You are my joy, my love, my first born.
Love,
Mom
