Thanksgiving Blessings

In my family, Thanksgiving comes on the Sunday before Thanksgiving.  For my parents, this gives them a day for us to spend together so that we can go and visit the other families on Thanksgiving day.

My mom sets up the table to look fabulous and festive.  Yes, that is a table set for 25.  My grandmothers also join us.
One of the ongoing traditions that my daughter started was when we say prayer, we follow it with everyone going around and saying what they are thankful for from the past year.  Sometimes this leads into us sharing things we haven't shared lately.  Sometimes it brings tears for challenging years.  Sometimes it brings tears of joy for celebratory years.  All in all, it is a special time I look forward to every year.
Forgive the following pictures as they were taken with my Iphone because my camera was full from the weekend and I hadn't had a chance to unload the pictures onto my computer. :(  Here are just a few snapshots from the day.

Another wonderful Thanksgiving Day at my parents home.  Of course, we also watched the intense Texans vs. Jaguars game.  We were all on the edge of our seats with this game.  There was also some silent moments of hope.  However, the Texans pulled through and made it a great day!  Great game Jaguars, but it's a Texans season.  It's Texans turn for the spotlight and boy do they shine!

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving week!  I get to be home relaxing and get to do some "spring" cleaning.  I love getting organized. :)

Ciao!

Football and Pinterest

Yesterday as the Texans played their fabulous ball, I decided to "pin" as I watched the game on tv.  I knew I couldn't just watch the game.  It was a cold day in Chicago.  It was raining.  It was a messy game, but a good one at that!  Soooo, as I watched, I pinned.  Here are a few glimpses of what I found in Pinterest world....

For the tummy.....a recipe for Cilantro Lime Chicken.  This is going to make a great dinner recipe.  I love being in my kitchen and cooking for my family.

I love jalapeno poppers.  What would be even better....jalapeno popper dip!

For the home.....I also found a beautiful color scheme for my future bedroom.  This just feels all warm and fuzzy.

These mesh wreaths are quite popular right now.  I loved the colors on this one.  I may try to make this one when I'm home for the Thanksgiving holidays.

For Christmas givings....I saw these pampering jars and it gave me a great idea to wrap up for my office staff.  I just need to find some of their favorite things and bundle them up inside. Won't that be a sweet homemade gift.  I love those kinds of gifts.

Here is a type of potpourri.  It is for the stove top Christmas scented potpourri.  You can just refill with water and place it on your stove.  It's suppose to last the whole Christmas season-at least the scent is suppose to last. I haven't tried it yet.  I am being a little selfish.  I pinned this not only for gift giving, but also for myself.  I can't wait to try it!

Okay, I am going to attach this cute little poem to the teachers' gifts this year.  Isn't it just a cutie?!

So, there I can say I started my Christmas shopping for the season from the luxury of my sofa during a Texans game.  Gotta love it!

Go TEXANS!!

TeXans

I haven't mentioned that I am a HUGE Texans fan!  We are rocking this year and so ready for the Superbowl!  My hope is that I didn't just jinx our team right there, but I think not.  I have a lot of confidence in our Texans and know they are going to be just fine....at the Superbowl!  Besides, my husband has a $100 bet with a cousin of mine that they make it!

I didn't grow up being into football, mostly because I didn't get the game.  I was into our baseball team and our basketball team every now and then.  Baseball is pretty easy to get and basketball, well that can also be exciting when you are down points and in a matter of seconds you can be right back up.  Regardless, a hometown fan is what I say I am and what I have always been. :)

Well, after watching a football game a few times, my husband started teaching me the game, I grew a love for it.  I can now say I am more of a football fan than any other sport.  It's fun, it's rough, it's loud, it's just plain intense to watch-especially a challenging game between two undefeated teams.  This week we play the Bears and I hear it's a good team to beat.  I get so nervous watching!  I just may have to preoccupy myself during the game so I don't get too anxious! lol!  Well, it's not really all that bad, but it gets pretty close.

Here is our mascot riding around the field.

This is my daughter with her boyfriend.  The Reliant stadium in the background-home of our Texans.

We have what is called Battle Red day.  It is when our team wears their red uniforms, we all wear our red Texan gear-even if you are not going to the game!

#99-If you do not know who this is, you are not a Texan fan...Mr. JJ Watt-fan favorite and one of my cousin's favorite players.  Oh, and not the same cousin I mentioned earlier about the $100 bet.

Here are my guys at the game.  I love these pictures of them!

Yes, us girls tailgating one fun afternoon.

My cousin's Tailgating sign- Red Zone Tailgaters!

We are looking forward to a successful rest of the season!  I am totally "siked" about our team playing on Thanksgiving day.  We are actually serving Thanksgiving lunch then watching the game.  It's going to be a totally fun day.  Perhaps some football after the game with the kids.

GO TEXANS!!

Do you have a favorite team?
